Simmons Engineering Corporation, a leading manufacturer of high quality band and reciprocating cutting blades since 1946, is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on, results-oriented full-time Engineering Technician to join our team. We proudly serve the foam, wood, pallet, leather, packaging, metal fabrication and machine shop, and food processing industries. 

 This opportunity will allow the candidate to contribute to significant Engineering, Maintenance, and Manufacturing projects and their resultant objectives. The successful candidate will be technically adept and work constructively independently and with other team members.


  • Update, revise and create electrical schematics.
  • Troubleshoot facility and manufacturing equipment electrical issues. Identify root cause and identify solution options.
  • Troubleshoot, integrate, and program PLCs and HMIs.
  • Identify and specify replacement electrical/electronic parts and components. Make upgrades as appropriate.
  • Research, specify, and incorporate electrical components and systems for new equipment. Build and wire electrical cabinets and HMIs.
  • Evaluate automation technologies including but not limited to vision inspection systems, robots, and diagnostic tools/software. Integrate and program purchased components/systems.
  • Participate in company safety policies, programs, and initiatives including OSHA and environmental regulations. Contribute to safety improvement projects especially related to controls.
  • Help maximize the up-time, throughput, quality of existing machinery via electrical simplification and technical assimilation.
  • Suggest and implement improved manufacturing and business methods, systems and processes. Contribute to the company's Lean program.


  • A Degree in Applied Science in a relevant direction such as Integrated Engineering Technology, Electro-Mechanical Technology preferred, but will also consider soon-to-be grads.
  • Excellent teamwork, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Desire to be hands-on with good mechanical skills and a high level of mobility.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and keep stakeholders abreast or progress and obstacles.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Rudimentary knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and ISO.
